Italy will not send its soldiers to fight in Ukraine. The country believes that this could lead to an escalation of the war, stated the country's Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.

"We will not send any soldiers to fight in Ukraine," he said.

According to him, Italy helps Ukraine politically, financially and militarily. The support will continue, but the country will not send soldiers to fight in Ukraine.

"We must avoid escalation, Russia is taking on serious responsibilities by having North Korean soldiers fight and by enlisting Houthis and Iranian proxies," stated Tajani, who is also Deputy Prime Minister.

Italy's aid to Ukraine

Italy has provided Ukraine with more than one package of military aid. In particular, anti-aircraft missiles, artillery pieces and armored vehicles were transferred.

In addition, it was reported that Italy would provide SAMP/T to Ukraine as part of a new aid package.

However, Tajani recently stated that Italy's position on the use of the weapons supplied to Ukraine remains unchanged.
