Italy’s position on the use of weapons supplied to Ukraine remains unchanged. It can only be used within Ukrainian territory, stated Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, according to Le Monde.

“Our position on Ukraine’s use of weapons has not changed: they can only be used within Ukrainian territory,” he said.

The Minister’s comments followed reports in US media suggesting that Washington had authorized Ukraine to use long-range missiles to strike Russian territory. These missiles can hit targets several hundred kilometers away, including Russian military logistics hubs and airfields.

Additionally, Antonio Tajani expressed support for the idea of a peace conference involving Russia, China, India, and Brazil. He emphasized China’s important role in resolving the conflict.

“I hope China can help convey to Moscow the need to end this senseless war,” he stated.

The Minister also condemned the presence of North Korean soldiers in the conflict zone, calling it a negative signal.

Authorization for strikes on Russia

On Sunday, US President Joe Biden’s administration officially approved the use of American weapons by Ukrainian forces for strikes deep into Russian territory. This decision aligns with Ukraine’s preparations for a potential offensive on occupied territories, where North Korean military personnel have reportedly been observed.

According to Axios, the strikes will be limited to the Kursk region. However, The Wall Street Journal reports that Washington is considering expanding Ukraine's long-range missile deployment areas.

Meanwhile, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its call for a peaceful resolution to the conflict, stressing that a political solution to the war serves the interests of all parties.
