Ukraine and Italy will explore the possibility of signing a Drone Deal. Rome has already expressed interest in such arrangements, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
The Ukrainian leader recalled that Ukraine has developed a special agreement format for partners — the Drone Deal.
"It covers our military expertise and defense capabilities in drones, missiles, electronic warfare systems, and data sharing. We propose combining all of this with the capabilities of our partners," Zelenskyy explained. According to him, it is important that Italy has shown interest in such cooperation.
"We agreed that Giorgia’s team and mine will work out the details of a Drone Deal between our countries," Zelenskyy said.
He added that the two countries are working to increase cooperation between their defense sectors.
Drone Deal
The first country Ukraine offered to sign a Drone Deal with was the United States.
Amid a shortage of air defense systems, Kyiv proposed a model to Washington: Ukrainian drone defense systems in exchange for US capabilities to counter ballistic missiles.
According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, such an agreement would allow Ukraine to attract additional funding and systematically cover critical air defense needs.
As noted, despite interest expressed by Donald Trump and the US military leadership, no final decision on implementing the project has been made yet.
