French President Emmanuel Macron is insisting that Geneva should host the trilateral meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, US President Donald Trump, and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, according to Sky News.

According to media reports, the French president said this morning that the meeting between Zelenskyy, Trump, and Putin should take place in a neutral country, possibly Switzerland or another state.

"I'm advocating Geneva," Macron said.

At the same time, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani also stated that Geneva could be the best venue for the trilateral meeting, adding that "Italy is in favour of it."

However, Trump and Zelenskyy prefer the Italian capital, Rome. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US Vice President J.D. Vance have also backed Trump's choice of Rome.

"We are still evaluating several locations (for the possible meeting)," EU diplomats said on condition of anonymity.

Trilateral meeting of Zelenskyy, Trump, and Putin

On August 18, before talks with the Ukrainian delegation, Trump said that a trilateral meeting would take place only if the negotiations between Zelenskyy and Trump were successful.

It was also reported that European diplomats are searching for a venue for the potential trilateral meeting involving Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, US President Donald Trump, and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

According to RBC-Ukraine, Zelenskyy is ready to join the trilateral format in any configuration if the meeting takes place.

At the same time, the Russian side has not yet clearly confirmed its readiness to participate in the trilateral meeting at the highest level.
