Russian President Vladimir Putin deliberately fabricates victories for the Russian military and defeats for the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The Kremlin leader’s goal is quite clear — to continue the war at any cost, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Putin’s latest false claims were made during the convention of his party, United Russia, on June 28.

He has once again demonstrated his intention to achieve all his goals in the war against Ukraine by military means.

As noted by the ISW, Putin categorically rejects Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s calls for negotiations.

The Kremlin leader also claimed that Russia had sufficient forces, resources, and political will to stand up to the West in the event of a conflict.

Interestingly, Putin once again imagined that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were retreating along the entire front line. However, he provided no evidence to support this claim.

American analysts emphasize that the Kremlin leader’s speech was yet another attempt to portray Russia’s military victory over Ukraine as inevitable.

Putin also tried to convince Russians that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were on the verge of collapse.

"Putin did not explicitly discuss Ukraine’s strike campaign against Russia or the wide-scale gasoline shortages experienced across the entire country, but Putin is likely subtly trying to portray himself as cognizant of the economic and social struggles Russia is facing," the ISW explains.

Putin decided to tell the truth about the summit with Trump in Alaska. In effect, he admitted that the Kremlin had lied about the results of that meeting.

Moreover, he had to respond to the critical fuel situation in Crimea.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has already commented on Putin’s new admissions and fabrications. Diplomats ridiculed the Kremlin leader’s public posturing.
