Israeli Ambassador discusses potential ground operation in Gaza
Israeli military has destroyed nearly all of the Hamas terrorists who infiltrated the country's territory, and currently, the soldiers are targeting the "terror infrastructure" in the Gaza Strip. In the future, a ground operation is also possible, according to the Ambassador of Israel to Ukraine, Michael Brodsky, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
He mentions that Israel is experiencing an unprecedented attack on its territory. Currently, there are more than 700 reported fatalities and several thousand wounded.
The Ambassador emphasizes that Israel is dealing with terrorists who have "lost any semblance of humanity and have no moral restraints." Therefore, the country must take this into account when conducting the military operation.
"What is happening now: virtually all terrorists who infiltrated Israeli territory have been eliminated, and the next phase of the operation, which was announced, involves the destruction of the terrorist infrastructure in the Gaza Strip. Currently, there are ongoing airstrikes on terrorist infrastructure in Gaza, but a ground operation cannot be ruled out in the future," he said.
Brodsky doesn't disclose the army's plans but did not rule out the possibility of Israel taking control of the Gaza Strip.
Hamas Attack on Israel
On October 7, Hamas terrorists infiltrated Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip. Initially, they managed to capture a number of settlements.
Israel declared a "state of war" and launched the counter-terrorism operation Operation "Iron Swords." By the evening, the IDF had regained control of most of the territory and carried out strikes on military targets and Hamas headquarters in response. Today, Israel has regained control of all areas, but there may still be Hamas militants on the ground.
On October 7, discussions about a possible ground operation in the Gaza Strip began in Israel. Additionally, yesterday, the Pentagon stated that Israel's ground operation could commence within the next 48-72 hours.
Furthermore, today, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed U.S. President Joe Biden that there was no other choice for the country but to initiate a ground operation in the Gaza Strip.
