Israel strikes Beirut: IDF claims weapon storage buildings hit
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they have carried out strikes on buildings in Beirut, which, according to Israeli military officials, are used by Hezbollah as command centers and sites for weapons production and storage, according to CNN.
The statement was made just hours after the IDF began striking buildings in the Dahiyeh area in southern Beirut.
Hezbollah denies that its weapons were stored in the civilian buildings targeted by Israeli strikes.
The Israeli military issued another evacuation order for residents of the Al-Burj al-Barajneh and Al-Hadat areas.
According to a statement made on Saturday, Israeli forces struck Hezbollah targets in the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon.
The IDF reported that about ten rockets were fired from Lebanon towards northern Israel on Saturday morning.
Previous strike on Beirut
On September 27, Israeli forces struck the Lebanese capital, Beirut. The target of the attack was Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. The strike targeted an underground bunker where the organization’s leaders were meeting. It is still unknown whether Nasrallah survived.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is in New York for the UN General Assembly meeting. In his speech there, he stated that if Iran attacks Israel, the IDF will retaliate.
According to The Telegraph, Netanyahu went to the United States partly to make Nasrallah think he was safe.
Sources from Reuters indicate that Nasrallah has been unreachable following Israel's strikes.
