Israeli forces killed Houthi Chief of Staff Muhammad al-Ghamari during an airstrike in Yemen in August, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said, according to The Times of Israel.

Al-Ghamari was likely fatally wounded in the IDF attack. He had previously been injured during an Israeli strike in June.

"He joins his friends, the eliminated members of the axis of evil, in the depths of hell," Katz said.

The minister added that he also visited the so-called Houthi command center of Israel’s Military Intelligence Directorate today, together with the director, Major General Shlomi Binder. There, he thanked soldiers and commanders "for the excellent work they have done and have yet to do against the Houthis in the future."

Muhammad al-Ghamari

Muhammad Abd al-Karim al-Ghamari was the Chief of Staff of the Houthi armed forces. Since 2016, he led the group's military command and was considered a key strategist responsible for planning and conducting Houthi operations both inside and outside Yemen.

As Chief of Staff, al-Ghamari was also sanctioned by the UN and the US for his role in carrying out attacks, destroying civilian infrastructure, and directing offensive operations against government forces and neighboring countries. His name is often linked to attacks on Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, as well as leading the offensive in Marib province, which deepened the humanitarian crisis.

For context, on August 30, it was reported that Houthi Prime Minister Ahmed al-Rahawi was killed in Israel's strike on Yemen on August 28.
