Israel Defense forces: Battles in south of Gaza will be as intense as those in the north
Israeli military operations are commencing in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, while ground operations continue in the northern region, stated IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, according to The Times of Israel.
“Yesterday, today, we killed [Hamas] battalion commanders, company commanders and many operatives. And yesterday morning we started the same move in the south of the Gaza Strip. It will be no less powerful than [the operations in northern Gaza], it will have no less results," Halevi says.
According to Halevi, commanders of Hamas will encounter the IDF everywhere.
“We have the capabilities to do it in the most thorough way, and just as we did it with strength and thoroughly in the north of the Gaza Strip, we are also doing it now in the south of the Gaza Strip, and we also continue to deepen the achievements in the north of the Gaza Strip,” he adds.
War in Israel
On October 7, Hamas invaded Israel and began killing and kidnapping both military and civilian individuals. Israel declared the Operation Iron Swords and started targeting terrorist locations in the Gaza Strip. Israel also halted the supply of electricity and water to the region.
On December 1, Israel resumed military operations in the Gaza Strip after a week-long ceasefire. The IDF stated that Hamas violated the terms of the ceasefire.
According to Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, Israel resumed fire after Hamas refused to release hostages, including two children.
