Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir has announced the imposition of a state of emergency across the entire territory of Israel, according to local news agency Haaretz.

"National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir declared a state of national emergency on Saturday as Hamas and Islamic Jihad killed at least 22 Israelis, wounded more than 500 people and held hostage some civilians," the material states.

Morning attack by Hamas on Israel

In the morning, Hamas terrorists attacked Israel. It all began with a massive rocket barrage on the country's territory. Later, the militants entered Sderot, a small town in the Southern District.

The Israel Defense Forces stated that the terrorists would pay a high price. A counterterrorism operation called Operation "Iron Swords" was also launched.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu states that his country is in a "state of war."

"We are in a state of war. This is not an operation, not an escalation – it is war. And we will prevail. Hamas will pay an unprecedented price for this war. I have ordered the clearance of border communities from terrorists and the mobilization of reservists," Netanyahu added.

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health of Israel, there are currently at least 545 injured individuals known. There are also casualties.
