The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran has warned that it will set fire to the region’s oil and gas facilities if Iran’s energy infrastructure and ports are attacked, according to CNN.
"We warn the aggressor government and all its allies that the slightest attack on (Iran’s) energy infrastructure and ports will be followed by our crushing and devastating response," the IRGC said in a statement.
Since the start of the operation in Iran, the United States has struck more than 5,500 targets in the country, including over 60 ships.
Tensions between the US and Iran
It was recently reported that Iran may be preparing an attack on the US West Coast in response to potential strikes by Washington on Iranian targets. Intelligence agencies warned of the possible use of drones launched from civilian vessels.
In addition, Western media, including The New York Times, noted that US President Donald Trump may have underestimated Tehran’s military capabilities, creating additional security risks amid escalating tensions.
Earlier reports suggested that, amid rising tensions, Iran could mine the Strait of Hormuz, threatening global oil supplies and forcing the US administration to seek urgent measures to stabilize the situation in the region.
Trump issued a statement warning of serious consequences for Tehran if these reports are true.
He also claimed that the United States has effectively won the war against Iran, and that the only question is when the combat operations will officially end.
Today, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, made his first statement since his election, accompanied by threats, saying that all US military bases in the Middle East must be immediately closed and "these bases will be attacked."
