Iran threatens Israel with strikes on energy facilities
Iran may strike Israel's energy infrastructure in retaliation for any attack on its territory, stated Ali Fadavi, deputy commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
According to Fadavi, Iran is a large country with "many economic centers," while Israel has "three power plants and several refineries."
"We can target all of these at once," the Iranian commander added.
He clarified that such an attack on energy facilities would be possible if Israel makes "a mistake."
Background
On Tuesday, October 1, Iran launched approximately 200 ballistic missiles at Israel. Most of the targets were intercepted, with assistance from the United States in defending the skies.
As noted by the IDF, there were no damages to the air force facilities, and the air force's planes, air defense systems, and air traffic control operated without interruption.
Immediately after the strike, Israel announced plans to respond to Iran. In particular, IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi indicated that his country could identify a significant target and strike it.
Recently, US President Joe Biden revealed that Washington is discussing possible strikes on Iran's oil facilities with Tel Aviv.
