Iran attacked the Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, injuring 12 American service members, two of them seriously. The strike marked a significant escalation, according to Reuters and CNN.

A US official said at least two service members suffered shrapnel wounds that were not life-threatening. However, another source in the US government reported that a refueling aircraft was damaged during the attack.

The New York Times, citing two American officials, clarified that the strike on Prince Sultan Air Base was a combined attack, with Iran using both missiles and drones. According to the report, it was one of the most serious breaches of US air defenses during the nearly month-long war.

In addition to personnel, military equipment was also damaged. According to the report, at least two KC-135 refueling aircraft sustained significant damage.

Reuters notes that since the start of the war with Iran, more than 300 US service members have been wounded.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said hostilities with Iran could last another two to four weeks, despite hopes for a quick end to the conflict.

At the same time, Reuters, citing five sources, reported that the US can confidently confirm the destruction of about one-third of Iran’s missile arsenal. Another third may have been destroyed, damaged, or remain buried in underground tunnels and bunkers.

Despite this, Iran still retains a significant stockpile of weapons and could restore some damaged missiles after the fighting ends.
