Iran responds to Trump's plan for new nuclear deal

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that Iran will not allow the United States to repeat its failure to implement the previous JCPOA agreement. Negotiations "should be conducted wisely," Mehr News.
Yes, speaking at the ceremony, Araqchi emphasized the need for a clear understanding of the current geopolitical landscape.
"The unjust sanctions imposed on our people are a major obstacle to Iran’s economic development," stated the Foreign Minister.
He identified two important strategies for addressing these sanctions, including negotiations and engaging with international partners to lift them, as well as neutralizing their impact through self-sufficiency and internal initiatives, which he considers the highest priority.
Araqchi stressed that Iran "Iran must disappoint the sanctioning parties, calling the neutralization of sanctions a national duty." He added that while negotiations are needed to lift the sanctions, they should not be based on a policy of maximum pressure.
"Negotiations from a position of weakness are not real negotiations — they are surrender. We will never negotiate in such conditions," he emphasized.
He confirmed that Iran has never rejected negotiations, but the experience of the previous agreement showed that the US cannot be trusted, adding that Iran will not negotiate with a country that imposes new sanctions while sitting at the negotiation table.
Previously, it was reported that US President Donald Trump intends to sign a new nuclear deal with Iran. Such an agreement was signed by the countries in 2015, but Trump withdrew the US from it in 2018.
Moreover, on February 9, Trump stated his desire to reach a non-nuclear arms agreement with Iran. He prefers to resolve this diplomatically rather than through potential military action or bombing the country.
Recall that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is the nuclear agreement signed in Vienna on July 14, 2015, between Iran, the P5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council: the US, Russia, China, France, the UK, as well as Germany), and the EU regarding Iran's nuclear program.
