Iran outlines key conditions for resuming nuclear talks with the US

For the resumption of negotiations between Iran and the USA regarding the nuclear program, Washington must compensate for the damage caused by American military strikes on the country’s nuclear facilities, according to the Financial Times.
"They need to explain why they attacked us in the middle of (…) negotiations and they need to make sure they don’t repeat this (during future negotiations). They must also compensate (Iran) for the damage they caused," stated Iran’s Foreign Minister.
According to Araghchi, during and after the 12-day war, he exchanged messages with the US President’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and told him that to resolve the years-long confrontation over Iran’s nuclear program, a solution was needed that would benefit all.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that the path to negotiations was narrow but not impossible, and that he needed to convince the leadership that, if they were to enter into talks, the other side would approach them with genuine determination to reach a mutually beneficial agreement.
According to him, such an agreement must include financial compensation, and Witkoff allegedly assured the Iranian diplomat that Washington could agree to such a deal and proposed to resume negotiations.
US strikes on Iran
At the end of June, American forces joined Israel’s operation against Iranian nuclear facilities.
The US attacked three nuclear sites in Iran – Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. For this, they used special bunker-buster bombs, since Iran had hidden its nuclear facilities deep underground.
US President Donald Trump stated that after the attack, Iran’s nuclear program was destroyed.
At the same time, there were rumors in the media that Iran managed to evacuate enriched uranium from there, which is necessary for creating nuclear weapons.
