Iran may rebuild its weapons arsenal with Belarus help, intelligence says

Iran is interested in restoring its defense systems, including air defense and electronic warfare capabilities damaged during its war with Israel. To achieve this, it plans to turn to Belarus, the Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Service reports.
On August 20, Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko met in Minsk with his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian.
Formally, the talks covered:
-
trade,
-
investment,
-
industrial projects,
-
cooperation in science and education.
However, for Tehran, the key issue was the potential restoration of air defense and electronic warfare systems that were severely damaged during the recent war with Israel.
Unlike Russia, Belarus faces fewer military-technical sanctions and could serve as a channel for Iran to rebuild its defense capabilities.
Additionally, Tehran is looking to address acute shortages in electricity generation and agricultural machinery.
Israel-Iran war
On the night of June 13, Israel struck Iranian military and nuclear facilities, killing several high-ranking commanders and nuclear scientists. In response, Tehran launched daily missile attacks.
On June 22, the United States joined the conflict, targeting three key Iranian nuclear sites.
At the time, President Donald Trump claimed that Iran’s nuclear program had been completely destroyed. However, according to some media and intelligence reports, Iran had already moved part of its enriched uranium prior to the strikes.
By June 24, just 12 days after the initial strikes, Trump announced that a ceasefire had been reached between Israel and Iran. Since then, active confrontation has indeed come to an end.
