Israel's air defense systems detected missiles launched from Iran. The country's population is being urged to take shelter, according to the Israel Defense Forces.
"A short while ago, the IDF identified missiles launched from Iran toward the territory of the State of Israel.
Defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat," the statement said.
The Israeli population is ordered to take shelter in a protected area and remain there until further notice.
"Leaving the protected space is only permitted following an explicit directive. Continue to follow the instructions of the Home Front Command," the country's armed forces said.
It is noted that the Israeli Air Force is currently taking measures to intercept and strike where necessary to eliminate the threat.
War between Israel and Iran
On June 13, Israel struck Iranian military targets, destroying air defense systems and missile launchers. The attack also killed several high-ranking Iranian officials.
On June 22, the US joined the conflict, striking Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. The Americans used high-precision bunker-buster bombs, which are only available to the US military.
In response, on June 23, Iran launched a symbolic strike on the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, the largest US military facility in the region, which also houses the headquarters of the US Central Command.
At the same time, US President Donald Trump said that the ceasefire between Israel and Iran took effect on June 24. The parties must not violate it.
