The bill to terminate Iran's cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has come into force, states Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

According to him, the bill suspending cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog has acquired binding force.

"The bill that was approved by (parliament) and has been approved by the Guardian Council today… is binding on us and there is no doubt about its implementation. From now on, our relationship and cooperation with the (International Atomic Energy) Agency will take a new form," he said on state television.

The IAEA currently does not know whether the recent attacks by Israel and the US have set back Iran's nuclear program by years or only by months.

US strikes on Iran's nuclear program

Late last week, US forces struck several hard-to-reach nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, specifically targeting uranium enrichment centrifuge sites.

The Pentagon claimed the strikes resulted in the complete destruction of Iran’s nuclear program.

US President Donald Trump described the damage to Iranian facilities as monumental.

On Wednesday, June 25, in response to the attacks, Iran’s parliament passed a bill to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Tehran has also threatened to withdraw from a key nuclear treaty following the US airstrikes on its nuclear infrastructure.
