Iran could soon transfer ballistic missiles to Russia, a move that may prompt a swift response from Ukraine’s allies, reports Bloomberg.

According to anonymous sources cited by the publication, Iran has provided Russia with hundreds of drones during the full-scale war against Ukraine, but a "potential transfer of ballistic missiles would mark a worrying development in the conflict."

The sources declined to provide details on the type or volume of the shipments or a specific timeline, but one official indicated that the transfer could begin within days.

The publication noted that the US and other NATO allies have repeatedly warned Tehran about such a move and are making diplomatic efforts to prevent it.

The National Security Council has not yet responded to Bloomberg's request for comment. Iran’s Foreign Ministry and its mission to the UN also declined to comment.

Background

In early August, Reuters reported that Iran could soon transfer short-range Fath 360 ballistic missiles to Russia, with the potential supply involving hundreds of such missiles.

It was also previously reported that Iran had increased its production of ballistic missiles and drones following a cooperation agreement with Russia.
