Iran attacked the UAE’s largest oil port, Fujairah, with drones. Hits were also reported near Dubai International Airport, BBC informs.

On Monday, March 16, following a fire that broke out near the airport due to a "drone-related incident," flights at Dubai International Airport were temporarily suspended.

The fire also erupted after drone strikes on the strategically important port and industrial zone in Fujairah – one of the region’s largest oil storage centers.

Fujairah is located on the coast of the Gulf of Oman and plays a key role in global oil supplies. Thanks to its location, the port allows oil exports to bypass the Strait of Hormuz.

The UAE Ministry of Defense reported that the country’s air defense systems intercepted six ballistic missiles and 21 drones.

According to the ministry, since the start of the war between the US, Israel, and Iran, Tehran has launched more than 1,900 missiles and drones at UAE territory.

The drone strike marks the third incident near Dubai International Airport since the conflict began. As a result, some flights were delayed, and others were canceled entirely.

US President Donald Trump had previously stated that Iran’s military capabilities had been largely neutralized, but Tehran still remains capable of conducting targeted strikes on shipping routes. He called on world leaders to join forces to protect strategic maritime corridors.

Meanwhile, Iran continues attacks on Middle Eastern countries.

French President Emmanuel Macron intervened in the situation, stating that he discussed the escalation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and called on Tehran to immediately halt "unacceptable attacks" on regional states.
