iPhone gets new feature related to charging process
iOS 18 introduces a host of new features to the iPhone, with even more expected in upcoming updates like iOS 18.2. In addition to Genmoji, Image Playgrounds, and a new Mail app, Apple is also working on a feature to show users how much time is needed to fully charge their iPhones, reports the leading Apple news site 9to5Mac.
What is known about the new feature
The new feature is not yet activated but was discovered in the code of the iOS 18.2 beta, which was released for developers on Monday.
A new framework, called BatteryIntelligence, is expected to calculate the estimated charging time based on the amount of energy the device receives. Users may be able to receive notifications with an estimate of how long it will take to charge to 80 percent, and so on.
Though this feature was found in the latest beta code, it is still disabled and unfinished, suggesting Apple is continuing to develop it. It may appear in a future beta of iOS 18.2 or another software update.
MacOS already includes a similar feature for MacBook in the Battery menu.
With iOS 18, Apple has already introduced numerous new battery health features. For example, users can now set a maximum charging limit of 80, 85, 90, or 95 percent to help preserve battery longevity. iOS also alerts users when their iPhone is charged with a slower charger.
