Interior Minister: Nearly all Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy sector this year involved drones

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has attacked Ukraine’s energy infrastructure more than 700 times. This year, 90% of the strikes were carried out using drones, according to the Telegram channel of Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.
Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko and Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk held a joint meeting aimed at coordinating efforts to protect Ukraine’s energy facilities from enemy strikes.
"Ukraine’s energy infrastructure is one of the enemy’s strategic targets. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, there have been more than 700 recorded attacks on energy facilities. This year, up to 90% of the strikes have been carried out using UAVs," Klymenko noted.
He outlined the key priorities discussed during the meeting:
-
Protection of energy facilities – effective use of electronic warfare systems and strengthening the capabilities of mobile fire teams;
-
Access for emergency services – clear protocols, rapid response, and coordinated interaction with facility personnel during emergency operations;
-
Joint drills – training to ensure smooth teamwork and coordination.
"Energy security means safety for every home, hospital, and school. Our task is to ensure it at every level," the minister emphasized.
Russia may resume strikes on Ukraine’s power system
In June, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russia plans to continue attacking Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
"Russia is planning further attacks on our energy sector — attacks that may be less visible to the world right now because all eyes are on the situation in the Middle East. Our partners’ intelligence services have the relevant data," the president said.
Zelenskyy also noted that this information has been shared with representatives of the United States and the International Atomic Energy Agency.
