INGUAR-4 recovery vehicle enters service with Ukraine's military

Ukraine's Ministry of Defense has codified and approved the new INGUAR-4 armored recovery vehicle for military use. The specialised vehicle is designed to rapidly recover armored vehicles weighing up to 30 tonnes from the battlefield.
During testing, the wheeled recovery vehicle confirmed its capabilities in demanding combat conditions. It offers several advantages over tracked counterparts, including:
- Higher speed and greater operational range;
- No need for a transport trailer;
- Lower operating costs and easier maintenance;
- A smaller acoustic signature and greater survivability;
- Reduced crew fatigue during prolonged operations.
Which vehicles can the ARV recover
Thanks to its universal recovery system and powerful engine, the INGUAR-4 can recover most Ukrainian- and foreign-made armored vehicles from the battlefield.
The vehicle is designed to recover a wide range of armored platforms, including the Inguar-3, Roshel Senator, Kirpi, Kozak, Novator, Gyurza, International MaxxPro, and other vehicles weighing up to 30 tonnes.
Crew protection and Ukrainian-made components
The ARV's crew is protected by multi-layer armor made of Armox steel and aluminum, meeting the STANAG 4569 Level 3 protection standard.
The vehicle's cabin is equipped with:
- Blast-resistant seats;
- An automatic fire-suppression system;
- Heated armored glass and fire-resistant materials.
Nearly 60% of the vehicle's chassis and suspension components are manufactured in Ukraine. The first INGUAR-4 vehicles are already operating with Ukraine's Defense Forces.
As reported earlier, the role of heavy weaponry on the modern battlefield is undergoing significant changes. Constant surveillance and the widespread use of low-cost drones have made large armored vehicles increasingly vulnerable and expensive targets. As a result, Ukraine's Defense Forces are increasingly turning to ground robotic systems to carry out a growing range of battlefield tasks.
