In 2014, US gave Ukraine blankets instead of weapons – US Senator Graham

In 2014, the US limited itself to providing only humanitarian aid to Ukraine. However, there is now an opportunity to do what was not done back then, according to a statement by US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham during the Munich Conference.
"What did we do wrong in 2014? We didn’t give Ukraine much weapons at all, we gave you a lot of blankets. We didn't have a policy of giving you what you needed to defend yourself. We didn't mention anything about the consequences of another invasion," the Republican senator explained.
He noted that at the time, America missed the chance to integrate its economy and negotiate on minerals.
"Everything we didn't do in 2014, we better do now," he said.
Ukrainian rare earths
Notably, the victory plan for Ukraine, presented by its partners, included a provision regarding Ukrainian mineral resources. Ukraine is offering its partners, including the US, the opportunity to invest in the extraction of rare earth metals, which are found in the country.
The US has already developed a partnership agreement with Ukraine on rare earth metals. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has handed it over to the Ukrainian side.
RBC-Ukraine has learned that Ukraine has revised the draft agreement and has already submitted it to US representatives. The Ukrainian delegation at the Munich Security Conference noted that the American side requested time until 5:00 p.m. to review the document.
According to Western media, under the agreement, Ukraine will provide the US with rare earth metals worth $500 billion. This will be considered as payment for military aid provided to Ukraine.
It is worth noting that Ukraine has deposits of graphite, uranium, titanium, and lithium. These rare earth metals are of strategic value.
