IMF mission to visit Kyiv in near future

The Ukrainian delegation in the US has reached an agreement with the IMF leadership for a fund mission to visit Kyiv. The visit will take place in the near future, according to Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko on Telegram.
Svyrydenko said that she, together with a team of Ukrainian government officials, met with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and newly appointed First Deputy Dan Katz. They continued the practical development of agreements that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy initiated last week.
"We discussed continuing our cooperation and a new IMF program for Ukraine for 2026–2029, which is expected to support the economic stability of our country," the prime minister clarified.
She noted that under the current program, Ukraine has undergone a record eight reviews and received $10.6 billion.
IMF leadership positively assessed Ukraine’s progress in implementing economic, fiscal, monetary, and anti-corruption policies.
Svyrydenko thanked the entire IMF team for their courage in visiting Kyiv, engaging with entrepreneurs, and seeing the real situation on the ground.
"We agreed on a forthcoming visit by a negotiating mission in the near future. The government will continue working on implementing the necessary reforms," she said.
New IMF program
Ukraine’s current IMF program will run until 2027. The Ukrainian authorities have already asked the fund to develop a new program.
As explained by the head of the National Bank of Ukraine, Andrii Pyshnyi, a new IMF program is necessary to ensure regular inflows of external financing to Ukraine.
