There is a real danger of Russia striking Ukrainian nuclear power plants. In the event of such attacks, Poland will need to intervene immediately and call in experts, stated Polish President Andrzej Duda, according to PAP.

Duda noted that Russia has already attacked the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and the inactive Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Fortunately, these attacks did not lead to a nuclear disaster.

"There is a risk of attacks on other plants – Rivne or Khmelnytskyi – and we must take that into account. If such attacks occur, we will need to intervene immediately and bring in experts," emphasized the Polish President.

Background

On September 21, Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha warned that Russia is preparing attacks on Ukrainian nuclear energy facilities.

Following this, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed that Russian forces use Chinese satellites to take images of Ukraine's nuclear facilities, potentially as part of preparations for strikes.

According to Zelenskyy, Russia's plan involves attacks as early as this fall, and Ukraine has relevant intelligence.
