IDF conducts raid on Hamas intelligence headquarters
Israeli forces are advancing in the southern Gaza Strip. They have conducted a raid on the Hamas intelligence headquarters in Khan Younis, according to The Times of Israel.
The headquarters was responsible for all Hamas intelligence activities in the Khan Younis area, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), adding that the same complex houses the command center of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
According to IDF representatives, soldiers extracted "very valuable" intelligence materials from these locations.
Meanwhile, Givati Brigade troops conducted a raid on several Hamas targets in southern Gaza, simultaneously eliminating militants with sniper fire and tank shelling.
Additionally, Givati forces carried out several airstrikes on Hamas militants in the region and targeted other infrastructure objects belonging to the terrorist group.
Before the troops entered Khan Younis, the 98th Division and the IDF Air Force launched about 50 strikes on targets in the area, including tunnels and other infrastructure used by Hamas to attack military forces.
The war between Israel and Hamas
On October 7, Hamas militants invaded Israel. The terrorists began killing and kidnapping both military and civilian individuals. Shortly thereafter, Jerusalem declared the Operation Iron Swords and targeted terrorist locations in the Gaza Strip.
On November 24, a temporary ceasefire for the release of prisoners began between Jerusalem and the militants, mediated by Qatar. However, on December 1, Israel claims that hostilities were resumed due to a violation of the ceasefire terms by Hamas.
On December 20, Israel proposed to the Palestinians to once again agree to a ceasefire for a week. However, Hamas rejected the proposal.
At the same time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu outlined three conditions that must be met to end the war against the Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip.
