Russia delivered a powerful strike on the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine building in Kyiv, signaling a dangerous escalation of the conflict, says US Special Presidential Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg.

"The danger of any war lies in its escalation. Russia appears to be escalating the conflict by delivering the largest strike of the war on the offices of Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers in Kyiv," Kellogg said.

US Special Presidential Envoy recalled that just two weeks ago, he and Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko were in that building.

"History shows events can escalate out of control through actions as these. It is why President Trump is working to stop this war. The attack was not a signal that Russia wants to diplomatically end this war," the US Special Presidential Envoy added.

Shelling of Ukraine on September 7

On the night of September 7, Russia carried out a massive strike on Ukraine, using more than 800 aerial attack assets, including cruise and ballistic missiles, as well as drones.

In Kyiv, drones hit multi-story buildings in the Sviatoshynskyi and Darnytskyi districts and, for the first time, attacked the government building in the city center.

Media reports suggest that the strike on the Cabinet may indicate a "breach of the most powerful air defense zone" in Kyiv.

On the morning of September 7, Prime Minister Svyrydenko showed the interior of the Cabinet building after the Russian attack.

Besides Kyiv, explosions were reported in Odesa, Kryvyi Rih, and Kremenchuk. In Kremenchuk, where the Dnipro River bridge was damaged, traffic has already been restored.
