Hungary to build fuel storage facilities for Ukrainian oil and gas giant

Hungary plans to build oil product storage facilities for Ukraine near the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, according to Serhii Fedorenko, Acting Chairperson of the Board of Ukrainian state oil and gas company Naftogaz.
The Naftogaz Group has signed a memorandum with MOL. The company head said that amid continued Russian attacks on fuel infrastructure, ensuring market stability requires diversifying supply routes and creating additional storage capacity outside the strike zone.
He said the agreement could not only improve the reliability of fuel supplies for Ukrainian consumers but also support the mutually beneficial development of cross-border energy infrastructure between Ukraine and Hungary.
The memorandum with MOL is one of Naftogaz's agreements reached at the Carpathian Economic Forum as part of the C8 Summit. He also thanked the prime minister and government for their support and the Naftogaz team for delivering results.
Notably, as of May 5, Russia had carried out 107 large-scale attacks on Naftogaz Group facilities since the beginning of 2026, primarily targeting gas production infrastructure.
On May 29, Russia targeted oil and gas infrastructure in several regions over the course of a day, with Kharkiv and Sumy regions suffering the most damage.
As of June 27, at least four ballistic missiles, including ones with cluster warheads, and strike drones had been used against the company's facilities in the Poltava and Kharkiv regions over a two-day period.
