Hungary scrambles fighter jets to intercept five Russian aircraft over Baltic Sea

On Thursday, September 25, two Hungarian Gripen fighter jets intercepted five Russian military aircraft over the Baltic Sea, according to NATO Air Command on X.
According to the command, Russian Su-30, Su-35, and three MiG-31 fighters flew over the Baltic Sea near Latvian airspace.
Hungarian Gripen fighters took off from Lithuania’s Siauliai Air Base to intercept the Russian aircraft.
"Hungary demonstrates the Alliance’s commitment to protecting and safeguarding the Baltics and the eastern flank," the Command states.

Interception of Russian fighter jets
On Wednesday, September 24, US fighter jets intercepted Russian Tu-95 and Su-35 aircraft flying near Alaska.
That same day, Russia carried out another provocation in the Baltic Sea. A Russian fighter jet flew dangerously close over a German Navy frigate.
Last week, three Russian MiG-31 fighters violated Estonian airspace, flying near Tallinn.
