Hungary has refused to take part in jointly funding American weapons for Ukraine. Budapest will provide neither money nor arms, stated Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, according to Hungarian media.

The Foreign Minister dismissed the possibility of financing American weapons for Ukraine if the United States officially approaches the EU with such an initiative.

Szijjártó stated that "the money of the Hungarian people, Hungarian weapons, and Hungarian soldiers will not go to Ukraine."

Despite this, the Hungarian minister expressed confidence that the supply of weapons does not contradict US President Donald Trump's peace initiatives. In his view, "no one has done as much for peace in Ukraine as Trump."

Szijjártó also claimed that Trump’s peace efforts "could have been much more successful in recent months if they hadn’t been obstructed by European and Ukrainian leaders."

US weapons for Ukraine

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed Ukraine’s readiness to purchase weapons from the United States. Specifically, this involves Patriot air defense systems and accompanying missiles.

US President Donald Trump had previously delayed a decision, but the situation has recently begun to shift.

Just a day ago, Trump announced that the US would send Patriots to Ukraine, but the European Union would cover the cost.

In addition, a major announcement from the US regarding arms for Ukraine is expected on July 14. According to Axios, Trump will unveil an "aggressive" military support plan, which may include long-range missiles.

Meanwhile, Germany has stated that it sees "very positive signals" from the US regarding the sale of air defense systems to Ukraine.
