Hungary has joined a coalition of 20 NATO member countries that will be involved in demining territory in Ukraine, according to Hungarian Defense Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky.

The NATO meeting took place in Brussels on February 15th. During the meeting, an agreement was signed to create a Mine Action Coalition.

"In Ukraine, one of the most urgent tasks affecting the daily lives of the population is demining... The Hungarian Defense Forces are contributing to the coalition's activities, led by Lithuania, by conducting demining training," wrote Szalay-Bobrovniczky.

The UK's Defense Minister, Grant Shapps, stated that his country, together with Latvia, will lead the drone coalition and announced the transfer of thousands of drones to Ukraine as part of a British package worth £200 million.

On December 12, 2023, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and his Latvian counterpart, Andris Spruds, discussed the creation of a drone coalition. The Ukrainian official expressed gratitude to the Latvian side for the corresponding initiative.
