Popular blogger Vanya Russell has released a new episode of his series Voice of the Microphone, where he breaks down the raw vocals of artists from major shows. This time, the focus is on the performance of the Ukrainian band Ziferblat at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, which took place overnight from May 17 to 18.

Even before the final, Vanya shared a raw recording from the microphone of the band's vocalist, Daniil Leshchynskyi.

This is not processed by neural networks but the genuine live sound without backing tracks, effects, or backing vocals.

"This is a song that requires both power and precision. And he sang! Despite the complexity of the composition, despite the movements on stage, despite the pressure - he really carried it and intonated," Russell commented.

The blogger pointed out that the lead singer could have "slacked off," hiding behind backing vocals, but he did not.

Russell admits there were some inaccuracies in the performance but calls them "alive," not critical. He added that all the main vocal parts were performed without simplifications.

"This is not average singing, as some say. It was good. Nine out of ten!" the critic stated.

Russell also reminded that the final microphone video is only the lead singer's vocals, without the backing girls or the overall arena sound. So this version gives an opportunity to truly appreciate the live singing.

User reactions

In the comments under the video, viewers mostly agree with the blogger's assessment.

  • "A difficult song, Dania handled it perfectly."
  • "After two semifinals, we can confidently say that the singing in our act was good."
  • "Brilliant performance, wonderful singing, Khrystyna has a magical voice, Dania sings super cool, Valentyn created an extraordinary song, this is real art, BRAVO!"
  • "Wow, sang really well, and all that under such nerves and movement."
  • "Very vocally challenging song, but the vocalist did great! Sang everything cleanly, professionally. Well, at the end, he really either got a bit stuck or, from previous tension, lacked air, but he managed to finish the last words."

Second place went to Yuval Raphael from Israel with the inspiring song New Day Will Rise, and third place was won by Tommy Cash with the song Espresso Macchiato.
