Tomorrow, June 18, a Day of Mourning has been declared in Kyiv for the victims of the massive attack by Russian forces on the capital, according to the mayor of the city, Vitalii Klychko.

Flags will be flown at half-mast on all municipal buildings in memory of the deceased, and it is also recommended that the same be done at state and private institutions.

On this day, all entertainment events are banned in the city. Debris removal following the missile strikes is ongoing—currently, the deaths of three people have been confirmed in the Darnytskyi district.

According to Klychko, search and rescue operations continue in the Solomianskyi district. The total number of injured has already reached 114 people.

Night attack on Kyiv

On the night of June 17, Russia launched a massive attack on Kyiv using Shahed-type attack drones and various types of missiles.

More than 400 strikes were carried out on the city throughout the night. Air defense forces intercepted a significant portion of them, but some missiles reached their targets.

As a result of the shelling, residential buildings, infrastructure, and transportation were damaged. The Darnytskyi, Solomianskyi, and other capital districts were particularly affected. According to official data, at least 14 people were killed and more than 100 were injured.

Rescue services continue clearing the rubble and mitigating the aftermath of the attack.
