Head of Zelenskyy’s office and US Secretary of State discuss security guarantees for Ukraine ahead of leaders’ meeting

On Saturday, September 20, the Head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, held a conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. They discussed security guarantees for Ukraine ahead of the upcoming leaders’ meeting in New York, according to Yermak’s post on Telegram.
“We discussed the preparation of security guarantees for Ukraine, as well as the expansion of cooperation in military, defense, and economic spheres,” Yermak wrote.
Representatives of both countries also emphasized the importance of the upcoming meeting between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump “as part of the ongoing dialogue between the two leaders, aimed at achieving a just peace.”
“I thanked the American side for its consistent and constructive support aimed at ending Russia’s war against Ukraine,” the Head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office added.
Zelenskyy’s visit to US
As previously reported, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to travel to New York in the coming days for the UN General Assembly. Zelenskyy said he will discuss security guarantees for Ukraine with US President Donald Trump.
“We have prepared the foundation for security guarantees, which Europe is ready to support, taking into account that the United States will be by our side. We held many discussions, there was dialogue at various levels, including between the leadership of our armies and general staffs with Europeans and Americans,” Zelenskyy told journalists.
Ukrainian President also added that during the meeting between UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and the US leader, they agreed on the topics Zelenskyy and Trump would discuss in their bilateral meeting in New York.
In addition, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha will also travel to New York with Zelenskyy. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the visit will take place from September 21 to 26.
