Head of Office of Ukrainian President highlights key statements of Indian PM on Ukraine
During his visit to Kyiv, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Russia's war against Ukraine a war. He also supported the territorial integrity of the Ukrainian state, according to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
“It is very important that Prime Minister Modi emphasized this several times, calling the war a war. He said that India has a clear position on supporting Ukraine's independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty,” Yermak said, commenting on the meeting between the Indian Prime Minister and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Also, according to the head of the Presidential Office, Modi assured several times that India would never support any initiative to end the war that would be associated with disrespect or compromise on the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
What preceded it
Today, August 23, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kyiv on a visit. Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, his country has not taken a tough stance, but instead continues to maintain relations with both Kyiv and Moscow.
During the visit, Modi said that his country was ready to make a “proactive contribution” to bring the war between Ukraine and Russia to an end.
As Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to the head of the Presidential Office, explained, Modi's visit to Kyiv is important because India can influence Russia. Ukraine needs to establish relations with such countries.
