Harris is officially Democratic candidate for US presidency
US Vice President Kamala Harris has symbolically accepted the nomination for the Democratic Party's presidential candidate, citing CNN.
Harris spoke in a video appearance from Wisconsin after delegates at the Democratic National Convention held a roll call in Chicago.
"We are so honored to be your nominees. This is a people-powered campaign and together we will chart a new way forward," she said.
Vice President Harris had already officially become the party's presidential nominee earlier this month, securing the majority of votes during a virtual vote.
Harris is the first woman of color to be nominated by a major American political party. On Thursday, the final day of the convention, she will deliver her speech.
US election
Harris launched her campaign after US President Joe Biden decided not to run, following an unsuccessful debate performance against Donald Trump.
After these debates, panic began to spread among Democrats and Biden supporters, as many began to doubt his chances of winning the upcoming election.
Harris has made history as the first woman of color to receive a presidential nomination from one of the largest political parties in the US.
