Harris calls Trump fascist who wants 'unchecked power'
US presidential candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris labeled Donald Trump a fascist who wants "unchecked power" and a military loyal only to him, according to The Guardian.
On Wednesday, October 23, Harris delivered an unscheduled speech from her residence in Washington. This followed remarks by John Kelly, former chief of staff to Trump, who stated that the politician complained about lacking generals who would pledge loyalty to him like the commanders who served Hitler in Nazi Germany.
“Donald Trump is increasingly unhinged and unstable, and in a second term, people like John Kelly would not be there to be the guardrails against his propensities and his actions. Those who once tried to stop him from pursuing his worst impulses would no longer be there and no longer be there to rein him in,” Harris said.
According to her, Trump's revealed position indicates that the politician "does not want a military that is loyal to the United States Constitution."
“He wants a military who will be loyal to him, personally, one that will obey his orders, even when he tells them to break the law or abandon their oath to the constitution of the United States,” she said.
Framing this issue as a stark choice for American voters heading to the polls on November 5, she continued, "We know what Donald Trump wants. He wants unchecked power. The question in 13 days will be what the American people want."
Referring to various reports on her opponent's stance, Harris stated during her speech, "It is deeply troubling and incredibly dangerous that Donald Trump would invoke Adolf Hitler, the man who is responsible for the deaths of 6 million Jews and hundreds of thousands of Americans. This is a window into who Donald Trump really is, from the people who know him best."
"It is clear from John Kelly’s words that Donald Trump is someone who, I quote, certainly falls into the general definition of fascists, who, in fact, vowed to be a dictator on day one and vowed to use the military as his personal militia to carry out his personal and political vendettas," Harris said.
The Democratic candidate has, for the second time in a week, effectively called her Republican opponent a fascist. Last week, she affirmed a Detroit radio host's question about whether Trump's vision embodies fascism, though she did not use the term directly.
Harris made her remarks after Trump referred to his political opponents as domestic enemies and called for deploying the military against those causing chaos during the elections.
Trump's scandalous statements
Notably, John Kelly, the former White House chief of staff, stated that Trump frequently praised Nazi Germany leader Adolf Hitler and generally admired dictators. Kelly believes the Republican candidate fully meets the definition of a fascist.
Trump's press secretary denied this information, calling it absolutely false.
Additionally, in May, Trump released a video on social media mentioning a "united Reich" as a potential system should he win the election.
President Joe Biden and his team criticized such remarks from the Republican candidate.
