Hackers linked to Russia target Switzerland amid Zelenskyy's Davos visit
The Russia-linked hacking group NoName has attacked several government websites in Switzerland, the reason was the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the World Economic Forum in Davos, according to the press service of the Swiss government.
According to the information from the agency, a series of government websites, including those of the Federal Administration, experienced temporary disruptions due to the DDoS attack. The Swiss government's portal, www.admin.ch, continues to operate.
"Responsibility for the attack has once again been claimed by the hacker group ‘NoName’, which previously targeted the Federal Administration in June 2023. The presumed pro-Russian group cited Ukrainian President Zelenskyy’s attendance at the WEF Annual Meeting in Davos as the reason for the DDoS attack," clarified the government.
The department added that similar hacker attacks were anticipated on the eve of the visit of leaders of several countries to the WEF in Davos.
