In Russia, unidentified drones are carrying out a large-scale attack on the Volgograd region. Debris from the strikes caused a fire at a local oil refinery, according to Volgograd Governor Andrey Bocharov and Russian social media sources.

According to Bocharov, debris caused a spill and fire of petroleum products at the LUKOIL-Volgograd Refinery.

“Fire services quickly began extinguishing the blaze. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties,” he said.

Eyewitnesses told the Telegram channel SHOT that explosions began after 02:30, particularly loud in the Krasnoarmeysky district of the city.

In total, at least 5–7 loud blasts were heard, and after debris from one of the downed drones fell, a fire with smoke broke out in one neighborhood.

The Telegram channel Exilenova+ reported several hits on the LUKOIL refinery.

At around 23:29, Volgograd airport activated the Carpet plan, temporarily closing the facility to incoming and outgoing flights.
