In the early hours of August 4, Russia’s Volgograd region came under attack by unidentified UAVs. The strikes targeted transport and energy infrastructure, according to Russian channels.

Residents of Russia’s Volgograd region have reported air defense activity in local channels.

Multiple explosions were heard over the cities of Mikhailovka and Frolovo. In Frolovo, locals also reported a fire at a railway station, likely the Archeda station located in the city.

The Archeda railway station plays a key role in Russia’s military logistics, serving as a hub for transporting equipment and supplies to support military operations.

As of now, there is no official information from authorities regarding the extent of the damage or any losses of equipment or personnel. It is only confirmed that the fire at the Archeda station is ongoing.

Drone attacks in Volgograd region

This is not the first drone strike targeting the Volgograd region.

For instance, on the night of July 27, a drone hit a power substation in the Zhovtnevyi district, which supplies electricity to railway tracks. The region’s governor, Andrei Bocharov, confirmed the incident at the time, stating that the air defense system responded appropriately.

Due to the power outage, train services were delayed, according to the Southern Transport Prosecutor’s Office. Additionally, the airspace over the region was temporarily closed, leading to flight delays at Volgograd Airport.

On the night of August 3, several Russian cities were again targeted by unidentified drones. In particular, at least 10 explosions were reported in Voronezh.
