Grossi to visit Kyiv for high-level meeting

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi will arrive in Ukraine “for high-level meetings”. The visit to Kyiv will take place on February 4, according to the organization's website.
The meeting, according to a press release, will discuss the ongoing efforts of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to prevent a nuclear accident during a military conflict.
"As long as this horrific war continues, the IAEA will remain present and stay active, focused on doing everything we can to support nuclear safety and security in extremely challenging circumstances. As the overall situation is still precarious and fragile, our work there remains essential," Grossi said.
As noted, this will be the 11th mission to Ukraine under the personal leadership of Grossi since the beginning of the Russian war against Ukraine, which demonstrates "the IAEA’s unwavering commitment to assist Ukraine in ensuring nuclear safety and security.”
Grossi's visits to Ukraine
This is not the first time that IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi has visited Ukraine. For example, Grossi visited Kyiv in February 2024. At that time, he met with Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko and representatives of Energoatom.
In June 2023, Grossi postponed a planned trip to Zaporizhzhia NPP due to the potential risks caused by Russia's destruction of the Kakhovka HPP.
