Grain from Ukraine: Austria will allocate nearly 4 million euros to initiative
The Austrian government has decided to allocate an additional 3.8 million euros to the initiative of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, called Grain from Ukraine, according to a tweet from the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"Today, we commemorate Holodomor, the man-made famine that killed millions of Ukrainians 90 years ago," as stated in the message.
At the same time, it is emphasized that Austria once again declares that food should never be a weapon.
"Austria reiterates that food must never be weaponized & pledges further 3.8m € for the Grain from Ukraine-initiative to contribute to global food security."
Grain from Ukraine
Grain from Ukraine is a humanitarian food program initiated by Ukraine in November 2022. The program aims to raise funds for exporting grain from Ukraine to the poorest countries in the world.
Over 30 countries and international organizations have joined the program.
On November 25, an international summit called Grain from Ukraine took place in Kyiv, attended by the presidents of Ukraine, Switzerland, and Latvia, as well as the Prime Minister of Lithuania.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that within the first year of the Grain from Ukraine initiative, they managed to accumulate 180 million dollars.
