Google Maps is working on update that will make using maps more comfortable

Google Maps allows you to save places to a list, which can be very convenient when visiting a city or a certain place. Over time, the map can look overloaded with too many icons. Now the app is testing the use of small dots to solve this problem, reports 9to5Google.
Details of the innovation
Currently, icons - stars, flags, hearts, and others - in Google Maps retain their size and shape regardless of the zoom level. When you zoom out too much, the icons overlap, and eventually only one icon remains.
Google Maps is now testing the reduction of icons to small dots without icons when zoomed out. They will be distinguished only by their color (with a white border), and when you zoom in moderately, the icons will remain in their usual form.
Google previously tested this change in 2023, but then canceled it.
The innovation is that now some icons retain their original shape, while others turn into small dots. This makes them less prominent and impairs visibility, but makes the map look cleaner and less cluttered with text and other labels.
The new point display system is currently available in the beta version of Google Maps (version 25.06.x) on Android.
