Germany 'will not shy away' from deploying troops to Ukraine after war

The German government has expressed its willingness to send troops to support a potential peacekeeping mission in Ukraine, Sky News reports.
According to the agency, a representative of the German Ministry of Defense stated that Germany "will not shy away" from deploying troops to Ukraine if the appropriate framework is agreed upon.
However, he noted that it is still too early to discuss the details of the proposals.
This statement was made ahead of today’s European leaders' summit in Paris.
A spokesperson for the German government said that no concrete results are expected from the negotiations.
However, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz told journalists:
"We must ensure that Europe faces future challenges strongly, sovereignly, and with a straight back."
"I am certain that we will be able to develop a clear position," he emphasized.
Peacekeeping troops in Ukraine
Recently, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that he is "ready and willing" to deploy British troops to Ukraine to ensure compliance with a peace agreement if necessary.
Sweden has also not ruled out the possibility of sending peacekeeping troops to Ukraine.
At the same time, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that Poland will not send troops to Ukraine as part of a peacekeeping force. However, Warsaw remains committed to providing logistical, financial, humanitarian, and military support to Ukraine.
Additionally, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously noted that the number of foreign peacekeepers in Ukraine could reach up to 110,000. He also added that the participation of maritime nations, such as the United Kingdom, is desirable in this mission.a
