Germany to provide additional €100 million of aid to Ukraine in winter
Germany will provide Ukraine with an additional €100 million in aid this winter, according to German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.
Baerbock made this statement during her visit to Moldova.
Germany's aid
Germany has been providing significant military aid to Ukraine, including various weapons and equipment. The list of deliveries is constantly being updated, but the key military assets that have already been delivered or are planned to be sent include:
Air defense systems:
- Gepard: A self-propelled anti-aircraft gun already being used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to counter drones and aircraft.
- IRIS-T: A modern anti-aircraft missile system that significantly enhances Ukraine's air defense capabilities.
Artillery:
- PzH 2000: A self-propelled howitzer offering high accuracy and long-range firepower.
- MARS II: A multiple rocket launcher system capable of striking targets over large distances.
Armored vehicles:
- Marder: An infantry fighting vehicle used to transport personnel and provide fire support.
- Leopard 2: A main battle tank, one of the most powerful in the world, which significantly strengthens Ukraine’s ground forces.
Other weapons and equipment:
- Anti-tank weapons: Panzerfaust 3, NLAW, and others.
- Anti-aircraft missile systems: Stinger.
- Armored personnel carriers: M113.
- Reconnaissance systems.
- Ammunition and other equipment.
In September, Germany announced a joint aid package for Ukraine, which included 12 Panzerhaubitze 2000 howitzers. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that Ukraine would receive the first batch of the promised Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers within the next two months.
Earlier in September, Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock criticized coalition partners from Germany's Social Democratic Party (SPD) for weakening support for Ukraine. Baerbock is one of the leaders of the Alliance 90/The Greens party. The coalition also includes the Free Democratic Party (FDP). The government is led by Social Democrat Olaf Scholz.
