Germany to keep future arms supplies to Ukraine confidential

The German spokesman, Stefan Cornelius, stated that the German government would restrict information regarding the supply of military aid to Ukraine. This also applies to plans for the transfer of Taurus missiles.
Cornelius referred to the desire of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to "talk less about individual weapons systems."
"We will also no longer comment on any plans regarding the supply of Taurus cruise missiles," emphasized the spokesman of the German government.
He noted that other European governments behave in a similar way, while the Ministry of Defense refers to tactical reasons for greater restraint.
"Information about what weapons and ammunition we are supplying should remain open. The situation is different when it comes to such details as the number of specific missiles. This information is not so important for the public, but the Russian aggressor can draw conclusions from it," explained Cornelius.
Germany classifies arms supplies to Ukraine
Recently, German media reported that the new German government allegedly decided to classify arms supplies to Ukraine. Before this, during the office of Olaf Scholz, all data on aid to Ukraine were open and published online.
Later, the new Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, confirmed that Germany will continue military support to Ukraine, but future decisions are not subject to public discussion.
Earlier, Merz stated that he was ready to approve the transfer of long-range Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine.
