Germany will shoot down Russian drones if there is a real security threat to the country, said German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius on the sidelines of the Warsaw Security Forum.

He said it all depends on the specific situation.

"It depends on whether this is a real threat to our security. If there is a threat, of course, we will shoot them down, but everything depends on the situation," Pistorius explained.

Germany wants to change the law to allow the military to shoot down drones

Earlier, German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt said that the threat from Russian drones is high, and therefore, the country will take measures to protect itself.

According to him, among these measures, Germany is considering revising the aviation security law to allow the country's armed forces to be involved in the possible shooting down of drones.

"It's about being prepared so that critical infrastructure or large gatherings of people, for example, can be protected," the Interior Minister added.
