On Monday, December 15, the President of Ukraine will visit Germany for a meeting with Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
According to the announcement from the German federal government, Merz and Zelenskyy will discuss economic issues and the state of peace negotiations on Ukraine.
"In the evening, European heads of state and government, as well as senior representatives of the EU and NATO, will join the talks," the German government said.
Ukraine–Germany cooperation
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that a defense working group focused on the details of security guarantees for Ukraine is being set up in Germany.
He clarified that the group will be led on the Ukrainian side by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Andrii Hnatov, with participation of the representatives of the Defense Forces and intelligence representatives.
A German media outlet also reported today that Zelenskyy will arrive in Germany on December 15 for a meeting with Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Representatives from the United Kingdom and France are expected to attend, and possibly officials from Poland and Italy as well.
It remains unclear whether representatives of the US government will be present at the meeting.
Peace plan negotiations
Earlier, Axios reported that on December 13, Ukraine, the US, and the EU will hold talks in Paris over disputed points in the US peace plan.
White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt later said that US President Donald Trump is already "sick of meetings just for the sake of meeting," so the US will send its representative only if there is a real opportunity to sign a peace agreement.
