The United States will send its official for talks with European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy only if there is a real possibility of signing a peace agreement, according to the White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

Leavitt said that Trump is "extremely frustrated" with both Russia and Ukraine.

"He is sick of meetings just for the sake of meeting. He doesn’t want any more talk. He wants action," she added.

At the same time, she added that the United States continues to play an active role in efforts to end Russia’s war against Ukraine.

White House Press Secretary recalled that on December 10, Trump held a phone call with European leaders. Meanwhile, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and his team continue negotiations with Ukrainian and Russian officials.

"If there is a real chance of signing a peace agreement, if we feel like those meetings are worthy of someone in the United States's time this weekend, then we will send a representative. It’s still up in the air whether we believe real peace can be accomplished, and we can truly move the ball forward," Leavitt added.

Proposal from European leaders

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that the leaders of the United Kingdom, Germany, and France had invited him to attend a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. They want to organize such talks in the coming days.

According to the American President, Washington wants to know certain things and has no intention of wasting time.

For reference, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry had previously said that Zelenskyy intends to discuss the most sensitive points of the US peace plan with Trump. So far, such talks have not taken place.
